Orlando Goñi, whose real name was Orlando Cayetano Gogni, was born in Buenos Aires on January 20, 1914, and died in Montevideo on February 5, 1945. This great pianist and conductor was just 31 years old. His most active period (the first half of the 1940s) coincided with the so-called "Golden Age of Tango." He was known by the pseudonym "The Octopus of the Piano."
